Patent Law is Anything but Boring
Brilliant ideas and property right ideals clash mightily with feared abuses of monopolistic powers. Opportunities to weaken the patent system for short term gains engage in guerrilla warfare with the obvious long-term benefits of a strong patent system. Congress and the media foresee world domination by trolls while courts fight to stem the tide by raising the threshold of statutory subject matter to astonishing heights. It’s enough to drive one to drink - a good, stiff one that puts you in the appropriate frame of mind to appreciate the current chaos in the courts. Raise a glass and settle in as Ian & Tom delve into the details of the issues raised in a recent court opinion, with snippets of attorney argument and discussions of those nagging, unresolved questions.
