Self-care with Drs. Sarah is a series of conversations between women scientists about navigating and surviving science culture. We (Sarah B. and Sarah R.) are astrophysicists and best friends who navigated graduate school together. In some episodes, we chat between the two of us about topics relevant to self-care for women scientists, and in other episodes, we interview our friends and colleagues about how they care for themselves.

Grad students must listen!

As a PhD student, this is the most relatable podcast I have ever listened to! It is like having a therapy session where you don’t have to talk about yourself. I highly recommend, especially to women in science!

Wish I heard this 3 years ago

This is perfect. It's so nice hearing about this sort of stuff from people a little further along in their careers. The topics are relevant for researchers, people in academia, and, I would think, even for people navigating the corporate/business world.

The openness of the speakers lends itself to serious and fun topics. It's chalked full of valuable stuff for all genders and all levels but is invaluable advice for students and early career researchers in sciences, I think, and particularly underrepresented groups.

I wish I had had this to listen to throughout my PhD.

Best podcast of my life

You do not need to be going for a PhD to get something from listening to the Drs. Sarah talk. They are such great examples and role models of what it can look like to be brilliant and sensitive. Before I met Dr. Sarah Ballard in person I had unconsciously thought that those two things did not go together, or could not, go together. And since I am sensitive I’d also unconsciously closed off many pathways that I’d thought weren’t for “people like me.” Listening to this podcast has actually opened up deep spaces in me, spaces that say, “it’s okay to be sensitive, maybe even a good thing,” and “hey, you know you could get a PhD too if you wanted.” This podcast is special and important and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
