Description

Shalom in the City is a podcast hosted by Osheta Moore, a wifey, writer, entrepreneur, and mom who loves to talk Shalom with her favorite women, her Shalom Sistas. While Shalom is often thought of as another word for peace, it’s actually a deep and wide concept of the world as it should be- whole, flourishing, and vibrant. Being a Shalom Sistah is as simple as seeing a need in the world and asking "how can I help?" Every episode Osheta will introduce a Shalom Sista who asked that question to share her story and give practical advice that will inspire and encourage women to be wholehearted and seek wholeness in the world right around her. We don’t’ get preachy but we do get personal, practical, and at times a little playful!

Encouraging & Engaging with practical advice

I've been waiting for this podcast to drop ever since Osheta mentioned it on her blog. I have followed Osheta's writing for a while now, and she always brings a sense of calm to the storm, without downplaying the real underlying issues. She lives out "shalom" in her everyday life, and I love that she is brining on guests who do the same. And the guests are highlighting ways that they are living out Shalom in their cities, stages of life, spheres of influence & showing us how we can do the same. It is messy but necessary work. The podcasts have left me feeling understood, encouraged & also inspired to just start doing the work.

Love, love, love!

Wellll I already plowed through the first three episodes. Loved them each for specific reasons. Osheta, hearing you read your Shalom Sistas manifesto and the belief and passion in your voice lit me up. I was literally nodding along. Shannan, my husband and I are involved in the foster/orphan care community in our town so your wisdom and experience were so so valuable to me. Megan, I was home schooled through 12th grade but am fairly certain our kiddos, one of whom has a physical disability, will go to our neighborhood public school when the time comes (they're 3 & 1 currently). Your insight into and passion for public schooling and entering the district and campuses wholeheartedly was SO challenging and encouraging to me.

Can't thank you enough for creating this podcast, Osheta! I love it!

So encouraging!

I love these first few episodes. When I want to dive in and help others it’s so easy to forget that sometimes where your help is needed is right next door. Such a great eye-opening reminder to broaden my own circle and look at where I can be helping in my own city and in my every day life. Looking forward to more!
