Description

About the Show Skeptiko.com is an interview-centered podcast covering the science of human consciousness. We cover six main categories: – Near-death experience science and the ever growing body of peer-reviewed research surrounding it. – Parapsychology and science that defies our current understanding of consciousness. – Consciousness research and the ever expanding scientific understanding of who we are. – Spirituality and the implications of new scientific discoveries to our understanding of it. – Others and the strangeness of close encounters. – Skepticism and what we should make of the “Skeptics”.

Bad

I've only listened to the Shermer episode, but it wasn't good. The host is enthusiastic about some crackpot views on evolution, and asks a lot of odd, non-scientific questions that are painful to hear, especially in the context of interviewing Shermer, a man who could be dealing with so much more intelligent ideas.

Deceptively titled

If you enjoy sloppy thinking with a theistic bias, this is for you. The host is a paranormal enthusiast with a large axe to grind against mainstream science. True skeptics beware! As James Randi would say, "Woo woo alert!"

Inappropriately named

This should be called "Credulo." These people will believe anything. Cherry-picked results, special pleading, and worst of all, dull interviews with windbag pseudoscientists like Radin and Sheldrake. Shermer is the shining light here, but you can find better talks with him elsewhere. He must have been fooled by the title too--can't think why else he would have wasted his time. Listeners should not waste theirs.
