Voted “Favorite Political Podcast” by Apple Podcasts listeners. Stephen Colbert says "Everybody should listen to the Slate Political Gabfest." The Gabfest, featuring Emily Bazelon, John Dickerson, and David Plotz, is the kind of informal and irreverent discussion Washington journalists have after hours over drinks.

One of the Best

I have been listening to podcasts for about six months now and this is my first review. I feel compelled to post a review due to its excellence. I am a political junkie and listen to many different podcasts from the various news outlets and find this to be one of the best and one that I cannot miss. I must warn you that the show is to the left of center but is done in an informative and entertaining manner.

Tis Good

It's a fine podcast, if only for being an originally-produced podcast of equal quality to radio/TV roundtables recorded to podcast form. Dickerson, Bazelon, and Plotz are three intelligent, well-rounded observers from the inside. They are also were some of the few reporters brave enough not to kowtow to the Bush Administration for so long. Independent and smart.

Not particularly insightful

The latest couple of Gabfests (first two weeks of October) were rather clueless. I can't believe that the Gabbers just about dismissed the Mark Foley scandal as fading away and amounting to just a few emails and IM's from one Congressman, and that they thought that the brilliant Republican door-to-door squad will still work their magic come November. If you want to listen to a far superior end-of week show, try the Diane Rehm Friday News Roundup.
