Fantastic Podcast!! Amazing Filmmaker resource

Every so often over the past 3 or 4 years I've searched for a podcast like this out there, just a casual chat with talented people in the industry who are making a living at filmmaking. There's been absolutely nothing other than the couple of pseudo industry related podcasts on NPR that just end up being promo's for recent movies coming out. There hasn't really been anything that takes a clear look behind the scenes as to what it's really like to be in the filmmaking world and trying to make money at it. I stumbled on "Spotcast" a few weeks ago and am so thrilled that this is here! I coincidentally read "The 30 second storyteller" book written by Thomas Richter who just happens to be Ron's third guest.

Ron Small does an excellent job interviewing each guest, offering up great little insights that always keep the conversation moving with nice energy and momentum. So far, all the guests have been really fun to listen to, eagerly jumping into their own stories and perspectives on the world of commercial directing. Each episode so far offers very interesting and often humbling details about how the commercial directing world works and even though so far, the directors interviewed haven't been super famous, I have no doubt that soon we'll be seeing bigger and bigger guests. This podcast is very much needed for hungry and anxious filmmakers like me searching for answers in a type of career where there are no clear solutions or paths to success. If you're in the field, whether commercial, film or music video, you've GOT to check this thing out.

Fills a much needed gap

The Spot Cast is fun, interesting and highly intelligent. Quickly finding itself amidst the podcasting greats such as The RC, The QA and even more recently John August's Scriptnotes… welcome to the family Ron. Your show brings a much needed perspective.

To anyone pursuing film, this is a must.

love it!

very insightful.
