Cheryl Green from interviews artists, activists, and cultural critics with brain injuries and other disabilities. This show challenges the medical model of disability as a weakness to be cured and breaks the stereotypes that all people with brain injuries are either unintelligent and needy or superhuman and miraculous. Guests include peers with traumatic brain injury, others with a range of disabilities, and occasionally non-disabled people who work with us. We dialogue about intersectionality, ableism, and the role of the arts in examining life, identity, personal expression, and facilitating increased action and social justice. Often lighthearted in nature, we emphasize humor and realism for taking action from within the disability experience.

Excellent Podcast!

This is a great series. The host does a wonderful job of balancing guests, including many people from inside world of disability - with a focus on people with disabilities themselves. Stories like these are too few and too far between, and this podcast is a welcome addition! Well worth downloading, subscribing, and checking out the other projects of the host and her guests.
