A Lectionary Podcast by Crackers & Grape Juice

Talking Scripture without Stained Glass Language

These guys, Jason especially, are owed a debt of gratitude for bringing frank, funny talk and some leaders of the Church to enliven the lectionary scripture readings each week.

Gives life to the lectionary

Fresh. Funny. Faithful.

Great resource to add to weekly lectionary sermon planning

This show helps demonstrate the gift that is the revised common lectionary. Following the lectionary has the potential to discipline preachers, as well as members of congregations, to hear more of the scriptures, to ask what God might be trying to say to us when we would rather just stick to our canon within a canon.

The other day a colleague who preaches series wondered aloud about the future of sermon series as their novelty wears off. We both wondered together if there would be a swing back toward the lectionary. The existence of this podcast suggests just that possibility, and it is valuable space to think through the readings.
