Description

A synaxis is a liturgical gathering. It can also refer to an unveiling. The synaxis podcast is a weekly gathering hosted by Scott Jones for the purpose of finding the life giving, healing word of the Gospel in the words of the weekly lectionary passages. Join Scott Jones and his guests each week as they explore the lectionary texts together. This is the place for a Gospel rich, grace saturated and properly worldly lens on the week's lectionary passages, all in 25 minutes or less!

Old Persuasive Words

The Sunday lections have anchored the church in God's words of mercy for a long time... and for nearly as long, preachers have somehow bored and terrified us with those same words. But not Scott Jones and company! Whether you need inspiration for your upcoming message, or whether you need rescue from last week's insipid excuse of a homily (mine included), this podcast is your fix! At very least, you will hear God's mercy as mercy. As Augustine said, "download and listen!" or something like that.

Like a shot of expresso

Though it is earlier on in this project, I love what Scott Jones is doing with a quick overview of the lectionary texts. Good guests, good insights. It's like a shot of expresso-won't write your sermon for you (and it shouldn't), but it can get you moving in that direction. Fun podcast.

Like a good sermon: short, rich, to the point

As someone who just recently found thus resource, and as someone who preaches every week, I appreciate the insightful take on all three scriptures as well as the fact that I don't have to wade through an hour of discussion to get it. Well done!
