    The A to Z of David Bowie - Y and Z Part 1

    The A to Z of David Bowie - Y and Z Part 1

OK - we are now scarily close to the end of the Alphabet…and with it the end of our definitive Podcast journey through the work, life, times, friends and enemies of David Bowie. In this episode we tackle 2 letters! Damn we’re good. Y = Young Americans, David’s fearless foray into that thorny genre known as 'Blue Eyed Soul'. Of course it is a complete masterpiece. We also take a quick look at a man who could legitimately have turned up under the letter J (for Joe) or D (for Duncan). As it stands we opted for Z (for Zowie), David’s uber-talented son.

Bowie Heaven

I’ve just finished the long journey of listening to this immense document on the life of Bowie. Always interesting, often fascinating, never trite or patronising…Rob and Mark have been wonderful companions on this enthusiastic delve into music and cultural history. Thanks so much for putting this together.

Chock-A-Block World of Bowie

I can and do listen to these A-Z episodes over and over they are so dense with essential Bowie trivia. In a small way it helps keep him alive in my memory.

I have been a Huge Bowie fan since the tail end of Ziggy in 1973 with the receipt of Pinups for Christmas and Diamond Dogs for high school graduation in 1974. Giant regrets to this day for missing Diamond Dogs tour stop at Universal Amphitheater 3 weeks after leaving SoCal for college. Ironically he was practically living under my nose in 1975 during my Bowie summer of discovery in LA when I acquired his entire back catalog which wasn’t easy at the time.

Soloist sang Be My Wife during my first wedding in 1983. We chased each other around on tours until finally seeing Bowie live for the first time on the Glass Spiders Tour in 1987. Saw every tour after that (except Tin Machine). Celebrated Bowie in LA in January 2017.

Everything in life is connected and these guys connect everything Bowie. My other Bowie regret is that I never met him in person and through this series I almost feel I have.

Luv on ya! Billbowie

Loved it

“What is it about Bowie? We obviously love his music. It’s because he’s such and interesting and interested person.”
I’m bummed it’s over, it’s been something I look forward to every week for the past year! I guess I’ll just start it over again.
