Thanks Scott. Enjoyed the T Patterson interview. The feeling of being a grom invited to paddle out with the elder statesmen at the local creeped back in. Shivers. It was fun riding through the memories with you and Tim. Great mental departure from my suburban life.
Echoes of Down The Line
Before the David Lee Scales era, Scott Bass’ Down The Line podcast had a fuzzy, surfy feel. David Lee Scales came into the picture around 2013/14 and the podcast got really WSL-heavy, with a tendency to steer towards subjects that Scales is comfortable with—namely, rehashing articles from surf media websites and talking about brands and branding. Gradually, David Lee Scales’ efforts to build a podcasting empire all but consumed the lingering soul of Down The Line, ultimately renaming the podcast “Spit.”
With the Boardroom Show Podcast, Scott revisits his core voice, talking about surfboards and surfing with interesting people, shedding the fat and bringing us more of the good stuff and less banter about the size and color of Filipe Toledo’s last bowel movement.
Thanks Scott for getting back to your roots! Keep it up!
Scott Bass is hilarious
My props to Scott Bass for starting a new podcast. The first episode is very informative -- an insiders look at wave pool technology. No body else is doing interviews of this caliber focused on surfing (except for David Scales of Surf Splendor). I hope Scott continues to bring the humor even though the Boardroom seems kinda more serious than his other podcast Spit. Anyway rock on! Loved the first episode.
