The BHP is a chronological retelling of the history of Britain with a particular focus upon the lives of the people. You won’t find a dry recounting of dates and battles here, but instead you’ll learn about who these people were and how their desires, fears, and flaws shaped the scope of this island at the edge of the world. And some of those desires are downright scandalous.

Here is how you probably heard the story of the Battle of Hastings. William the Conqueror boarded a ship, won a battle at Hastings, and was crowned King.  Kingdom. Conqueror. Conquered.

Rearranging the Deck chairs on HMS England

It was autumn of 1066 and after weeks of deliberation, political wrangling, and arguing the English nobility had finally selected their next King. Awesome

This probably the best History podcast I have heard. Very informative and the way it’s given makes you want to hear more. Jamie has a passion for the material and put his own personal stamp on it. Favorite episode was the one on Boudica.

Very informative and great delivery

I really enjoy this podcast. The amount of work he is putting into this is evident. It is a ton of information but is distilled down to manageable segments. I have found it very helpful when something sparks my curiosity about British history. I can dip into an episode or two and scratch that itch. Good sense of humor as well. Keep going.

The best podcast

I don’t really like podcasts. This one is amazing. I ran out of new episodes, and since all other history podcasts sound like a nerd reading a Wikipedia page, I think I’m just gonna start all 450 episodes over again.
