Description

The Bunker is a breakfast radio show for the post-apocalypse generation! One hundred years after a vague cataclysmic event, Tom, Dave and David decide to host a one hour radio programme from their underground bunker, complete with guests, interviews, short stories and music. They also have to deal with the possibility of starvation, madness, monsters- both metaphorical and literal- and, worst of all, each other. The Bunker has a beginning and an end, so be sure to listen to episode one first! ...

Not just the best thing since canned bread, it's better than canned bread!! (literally)

Come for the Apocalypse, Stay for the Humanity

It's sort of like This American Life getting together with DJ Shadow and blasting off into a bleak, oppressive future to report back with missives of hope, humor, and sheer terror. Honestly wasn't expecting much when I downloaded the first episode, but I'm happy to say I've found a brilliant new monthly podcast.

Right Up There with Thrilling Adventure Hour & Welcome to Nightvale

There are very few productions that come out of the gate this polished, enjoyable, funny and creative as "The Bunker." Fans of the famous staged and recorded "The Thrilling Adventure Hour" and/or the studio produced "Welcome to Nightvale" showcasts will likely make this another of their favorite podcasts.

The Bunker doesn't offer creepiness like Nightvale but the surreality of poking fun at the post-apocalyptic setting feels similar. TAH fans will enjoy the oddball relationship humor among the core characters and their frequent guest castmembers. The character interplays are either warmly or evilly entertaining, appropriate to the setting and the humor lands right where it should every time.

The "edutainment" portion of each episode can't be undervalued. It's both informative and delivered with enough humor to encourage continued listening without effort. The music The Bunker drops into parts of every episode is both a believeable accidental interruption from weird post-disaster weather patterns as well as a nice segue-avoiding way to get to the next segment of the show.

All serious reviewership aside, this is one funny show from both a laugh out loud as well as a "slowly making you smile" perspective. You won't regret subscribing...even if you're some sort of wastlander.
