Can’t do this one anymore

I listened to a dozen or so of Tony’s podcasts and tried really hard to ignore the parts I didn’t much care for, but it became too much.

Firstly, be very wary of the abundance of 5-star ratings. Tony proudly promotes at the start of every episode that if you give him a 5-star rating and review on iTunes, he will give you a shoutout on the next episode. That bribe removes an aspect of validity (and honesty) in the ratings IMO.

Secondly, get ready for a ridiculously long intro until getting into the episode’s core subject matter. The musical intro alone is 2 minutes. (FFW) Then Tony goes through the 5-star rating and review shoutouts. (FFW) Then he covers the multi-level Patreon supporters. (FFW) It’s just on and on and on with unnecessary fluff. I was shocked when his younger brother suddenly made an appearance in the home studio at the start of one episode, and an impromptu, hour-long, irrelevant discussion about flat earth theories + how NASA has been lying to people in massive coverups + how his young brother believes that the earth is hollow >> all of that came out of nowhere. {{Sigh... Yeah, sorry, I’m sticking with Neil deGrasse Tyson on this subject matter.}}

The episodes that were good and on form were great (hence the 2 stars), and the ones that were bad were atrocious (hence not higher). You’ll hear stories from people about living in a house haunted by a dead witch/warlock/Satanist, and oh, by the way, they’ve also seen Bigfoot, had a personal encounter with Dogman, and even saw aliens! Gee, isn’t that convenient... My biggest face palm came with episode 91 and a male caller who claimed that as a kid, he angered a classmate when said classmate had telepathically read the caller’s mind when the caller was thinking something bad about the classmate; how the classmate’s dad was part of the Illuminati; how the next thing the caller knew, he was suddenly abducted by aliens and sent to live as a slave in outer space, where he was abused by Satanists; then how the caller was finally brought back to Earth after 20 years, returning to his child body. SERIOUSLY?!? I can’t believe Tony even aired that nonsense and that he gives the story so much credibility. I’m an open-minded person when it comes to things that may exist that we do not yet understand, but I do have reasonable limits. As far as I’m concerned, that was a case of lucid dreaming or a night terror dream at best. Some callers also take forever to get something out, or constantly cut themselves off mid-story to go on a long tangent, then circle back. Come on, folks!

Finally, I can no longer subscribe to the way Tony constantly goes off on endless religious tangents and lengthy Bible discussions that go deeply into his *personal* beliefs. This come across as very preachy IMO. My problem there is not his faith. It’s that I have issues with objectivity getting thrown right out the window. One episode even got into Trump and politics with a caller, as if we don’t deal with that enough already in daily life. Too many off-topic time wasters, and too much pushing of personal religious beliefs for my liking. Staying on topic and sticking to the subject matter at hand would make it a much better podcast IMO.
