The DiploSport Podcast returns after an 18-month layoff with this interview featuring bestselling author, longtime Sports Illustrated writer and fellow Tar Heel, Scott SL Price.

I interviewed SL in the basement cafe at Politics and Prose, which is one of the most DC things I've ever done. Great conversation touched on his book, "Playing Through the Whistle" which covered American culture through the lens of football in a PA steel town. We also touched on the good, the bad and the ugly of UNC's sports program.

One of our all-time favorite sportswriters joins DiploSport for this week's podcast. Jeff Pearlman was a terrific writer for Sports Illustrated before becoming one of the best book authors in the business. His works - like Boys will be Boys (about the Cowboy Dynasty) and The Bad Guys Won (about the '86 Mets) - are uniformly impeccably well reported and capture memorable and humorous accounts of some of the most well-known teams in recent history.
