Description

Money. Romance. Tragedy. Deception. The story of Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos is an unbelievable tale of ambition and fame gone terribly wrong. How did the world's youngest self-made female billionaire lose it all in the blink of an eye? How did the woman once heralded as "the next Steve Jobs" find herself facing criminal charges -- to which she pleaded not guilty -- and up to 20 years in jail? How did her technology, meant to revolutionize healthcare, potentially put millions of patients at risk? And how did so many smart people get it so wrong along the way? ABC News chief business, technology and economics correspondent Rebecca Jarvis, along with producers Taylor Dunn and Victoria Thompson, take listeners on a journey that includes a three-year-long investigation. You'll hear exclusive interviews with former employees, investors, and patients, and for the first-time, the never-before-aired deposition testimony of Elizabeth Holmes, and those at the center of this story.

Customer Reviews

Excellent

This podcast was thoroughly researched. Holmes conned allegedly brilliant people. I enjoyed the podcast.

Good, but something’s missing

I am halfway through and agree with DIBrewing’s review - the missing piece for me, and why I’m about to bail out, is even simpler. Yes, we get it - they’re bullies and liars. But somewhere, early in the series, should be a 10-15 minute discussion about the underlying science. Why *are* blood tests so complicated? Why *cant* labs test with a single drop of blood? How was the machine *supposed* to work? Did she set out to defraud from the beginning? or was there good evidence that this breakthrough was possible...and it just didn’t work out. Maybe that’s all coming up...It’s like a behind the scenes look at Menlo Park in 1878 without ever talking about lightbulbs.

Loved this pod thanks

Some people love finding a book that they can’t seem to put down. I love finding a pod that i can’t stop listening. This was one of those rare finds.i listened to the whole series on my trip to Colorado. Replayed several episodes. Great pod
