||Clean#37: English Teacher Joan Cone on Supporting Readers||Joan Cone is a retired English teacher who taught for more than 40 years. In the middle of her career, she changed the way she taught her class in an attempt to support young people to love reading. Ms. Cone wrote about that transformation in her article, “Appearing Acts,” published in the Harvard Educational Review. The piece was featured in The Highlighter #137 as well as in Podcast #34. I love the Highlighter!
I love the highlighter and am happy to see the podcast of interviews has begun. In addition to reading the highlighter's articles I enjoy talking about the emotions they bring up even more. Mark is really a great listener and curator of great reading!
Mark does a great job of collecting a wide range of fascinating and deep articles in his 'list'-like blog on race and education. This podcast is a cool addition to the list and always features a unique perspective on education.
Multiple modalities moves me!
