short and sweet

I love listening to Janice & Dan's broadcasts from the road. They keep them fairly short, and I find them to be amusing and relatable...including Janice's discussion of recovery as a fellow cancer survivor. When they say "hi" to each other at the beginning of each episode, I can hear the heart eyes.

Been catching up

As I redo the upstairs bathroom this month of my summer break; sanding, painting, wiping, scrubbing, I escape to Evangeline and her fearless co-pilots Jan and Dan. Recently these friends passed through our lives and while it was great to see them and the boys, I must admit some lingering disappointment over not laying eyes on, much less foot in, the star of the show. What’s been nice to hear is the tone of our hosts. From reluctant somewhat intimidated haulers to ever more confident and happy comrades of the byways, highways and of course interstates. Needles sounds stunning and the beauty of this land is ever present alongside its doldrum distances. At the end of episode (I think) 18, I was deeply moved by what was unsaid but I thought I could hear in our pilot’s voices; that this journey represents the joy of being still alive, on the road of life, where possibilities, whether for adventures or poop, await! Were still here indeed!

low key hanging out & hearing about a road trip

Listening to the news and keeping up on current events in 2018 is super super stressful!

Instead, listen to this podcast recorded out of an airstream trailer as it moves around the midwest and Rockies. Dan and Janice are lovely hosts, and hearing the stories and background about how the trip came to be, and their trials, travails and happy places is great.

Definitely worth hanging out with.
