Description

What does it take to maintain a career in music? We track down members of bands that flirted with stardom and find out what their lives are like now. How did it feel to get that first big break? What was fame like at its peak? What was the transition back into normal life like? And what have you been doing since?

The best music journalism and interviews

Jon Lamoreaux is great at this. A podcast for everyone who loves music. Or who loves the hosts on Satellite radio's Underground Garage. I feel like this podcast is for all artists who got turned away by Terry Gross and NPR.

Brilliant idea

Jon's podcast is strong right out of the gate. This idea, of focusing on musicians who once had fame in the palm of their hands and now hustle for gigs and attention, is a great place to explore the music world. And Jon, who's guested on "Sound Opinions" and is a veteran journalist himself, does a great job shingling light on it all.

Fascinating look behind the scenes after the glory fades

Love this - it's like VH1 "Where Are They Now" in a podcast but introduced me to a new band I hadn't heard of and actually made me care about them! The interviewer goes in depth to ask the questions you're wondering like what do you do after the music career ends when you've been a star with a #1 hit, how do you actually make money (and how much), plus how the music industry today is different from what it used to be from the artist's perspective. The host is clearly a guy who loves music and is very knowledgeable and passionate about shining a light on musicians who deserve more attention. Be sure to listen to the intro too - fascinating.
