Worthy addition to the SW podcasting world!

There is no phenomenon quite like the Star Wars podcasting craze. The entire fandom seems to be drawn the medium like flies, and it's very clearly become the most popular way for Star Wars fans to express themselves, either as listeners or, increasingly, hosts. Unfortunately, due to the sheer quantity, many of those podcasts don't grab my attention (granted, the really bad ones are still fun to listen to). Some try to be something they're not, and end up being too formal, too redundant. But the ones who are self-aware, and especially the ones who are just a couple of fans having fun talking about Star Wars -- those are the ones that stand out, and reinforce the idea that for whatever reason, Star Wars podcasts are just awesome.

Charlie Ashby and Nicky Kumar are two fans I've been following (literally, on Twitter) after participating in some conversations on the increasingly popular Rebel Force Radio Facebook group. Their thoughts are insightful, unique, goofy, open-minded, and relentless in their interest and passion. And they've successfully transferred that energy into a podcast that reflects all of those qualities.

The Imperial Senate Podcast has no frills. There are no theme songs, segments, intros or outros, special guests, nothing. Just two guys talking about Star Wars. And it works so well. I'm sure they'll add those things later on, but it would only add to the show at this point; the chemistry is there right off the bat, and that's a rare thing. Definitely subscribe; it's well worth your time. (My only qualm is the title; I do wish podcasts wouldn't add "cast" or "podcast" to the end of their titles. It's like calling Seinfeld "The Seinfeld TV Show".)

Direct

Charlie and Nicky follow the Star Wars currents like so many, but they do so in a direct manner. Not only do they get right into the topics or news or character analyses (whichever each particular show seems focused on) but they stay on the subject that they are grappling in a way that leads listeners to further thinking. Proof that the last remnants of the Old Republic have NOT been swept away!
