Kip, Byzdera, and Briathos, three aasimar (half human/half angel), and Flik, a tiefling (half human/half devil), have found themselves in a strange and alien land known as The Last Refuge. They were sent here for a reason, though none of them can quite recall what that reason is. With nothing but the clothes on their backs, the supplies in their packs, and a few vague memories of instructions given to them by the aasimars' angelic father, they set out to fulfill their destiny, whatever it is, in this unfamiliar land.

Great story-focused adventure

There are a LOT of D&D podcasts out there, and this is one of the few that kept my attention with its storytelling, production value and group rapport. I've been running my own home-brew campaign for the past few years, and I'm definitely going to be stealing a few cool, new mechanics that this group uses (I love the story-based leveling up).
I binged both seasons over the past few weeks, and am thirsty for more!

One story deserves another.

What can I really say about TLR? (You know, aside from the things I scream in my head on a weekly basis.) It’s a fantastic story with an instantly compelling premise and attention-grabbing, dynamic characters — but still knows how to throw in warmth and genuine humor, both in the game and at the...Skype table? Anyway, from DM Jazzy Hands’ setting descriptions to each of the players’ individual choices, The Last Refuge is truly a joy to listen to, with twists at every opportunity. I don’t have enough words to thank Taryn for recommending it to me (and occasionally dealing with my raving), but I can say this: the cast seems as much of a family as the characters they play, and for that we’re all lucky.

Oh my what a STORY!

So I took a chance on this because I know Eugenio and Alex from growing up (FUMCOR!), and well, it’s my favorite podcast. I have my MA in Storytelling from ETSU (so I know good stories) and I love the arc, the characters, the drama, everything. Thanks for making my drive to and home from teaching middle school more enjoyable.
