Crucial Conversations for Our Changing Society
Way back in 2016, we got to hear a recording of very candid conversation between two high-profile men, one of whom who happened to be running for president. This conversation was very quickly labeled "locker room talk," and dismissed by many as "just the way men talk."
And, sure, it is the way some men talk, sometimes. But, to declare that conversation as "oh-so-typical" for men denies the reality that men can and do experience a full range of thoughts and feelings beyond, "I'd hit that" and assumes that most men cannot be expected to express themselves in any other way because they simply aren't interested or capable.
The Man Rules podcast shows us how wrong these assumptions often are. As a woman, I'll probably never know what really goes on in men's locker rooms, but Dan Griffin and his podcast have helped to remind me that it's probably more varied, complex, and nuanced than I've been taught to assume, just like the the men themselves.
And, I found the tips for relationships and for just better living in general, to be applicable to my own life as well.
