Great Podcast

This is a great "general overview" podcast for miniature gaming. Neil provides a very balanced perspective and I have also enjoyed listening to Henry Hyde from Battlegames - Keep up the great work!

A friend ...

I've never met is how I'd describe Neil after listening to his podcasts since Episode 1. Meeples & Miniatures is a terrific look at gaming - not just the nuts and bolts of game and miniature reviews, but the mindset of a gamer. Listening to Neil and his guests, especially Henry Hyde and Rich Jones, talk about games is like sitting around the gaming table talking to friends. I laugh out loud at some of the things they say when I find they really are talking about me, and at times I yell at them when I disagree vehemently (mostly due to the inherent differences between the gaming environment in the UK and the US). I enjoy their ramblings and sidetracks more than I do the actual rules reviews, although thanks to those reviews I have been lured into trying some excellent games I'd have missed otherwise (Ganesha's Song of Blades and Heroes for example). Sometimes I go months without listening to the 'cast, and then have to catch up all at once, just like catching up with friends I haven't spoken to in quite a while...

There's a New Game in Town

When Richard Denning stopped his podcast in favor of Expo organising (which I know is important) I was really disappointed. I had especially enjoyed Neil Shuck's take on both the minatures and the boardgames he had reviewed. Neil did a great job, getting a well-rounded picture of how each game works, what to watch out for, and of course "whether it's any good or not!" I know NOTHING about miniatures, but listening to him, I'm learning a great deal. I even have a different understanding of two games in my collection now, BattleLore and C&C:A. Neil has a great delivery, a vast (to me) knowledge of both the minis and the boardgames, and a clear passion for the hobby--and that's what makes his podcast one of the top three gaming podcasts on the web, including The Spiel and the Dicetower--it's his love for the hobby that just shines through. Brilliant!
