Jeremy Kuzmarov - Netflix Series on the Octopus Murders Continues Cover-up of Reporter’s Death and CIA Crimes He Threatened to Expose

Jeremy Kuzmarov has taught at numerous universities and colleges in the field of U.S. history and foreign relations. He has undertaken extensive specialized research on the following topics:

— Covert dimensions of U.S. foreign policy
— The War on Drugs
— U.S. policing and prisons and the internationalization of U.S. criminal justice
— U.S. airpower and its human cost
— American military base networks
— The false manipulations of the public in selling American wars, among other topics.

Kuzmarov has contributed to many progressive publications like The Progressive Magazine, Counterpunch, the LA Progressive, the Huffington Post, Z Magazine, Z Net and has appeared in various media outlets, including on radio and television programs. He is also a contributor to a peace website, developed by historian Roger Peace, that provides comprehensive overviews of major U.S. wars and assesses them from a just war perspective. Kuzmarov has been active in local peace groups, and is a board member of the Tulsa Peace fellowship, a friend of the Asia-Pacific Journal, and on the Steering committee for Historians for Peace and Democracy. He is also part of a network, headquartered at the University of Exeter, that studies colonial history and counterinsurgencies in comparative perspective.

He talks to Ed Opperman about the lack of detail and relevant information and disinformation in the recent Netflix Documentary regarding INSLAW and PROMIS sottware, and the lack of action at the corruption and murders those situations involved.

With the sad passing of Daniel Hopsicker yesterday, we thought it might be a good idea to repeat his final interview with the Opperman Report as a tribute.

You can hear the gamut of Daniel's work with The Opperman Report tomorrow night on the Spreaker channel as a tribute.

Daniel Hopsicker was a film producer, director and investigative journalist whose primary focus was the illegal drug trade by the establishment in general, and the US deep state in particular. Hopsicker published The Mad Cow Morning News. Based in Venice, Florida, he carried out a number of investigations, notably exposing Mohammad Atta - whose observed lifestyle contradicted the official narrative that he was a strict Moslem.

Joseph Allen Maldonado known professionally as Joe Exotic and nicknamed "The Tiger King", is an American media personality, businessman, and convicted felon who operated the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park (also known as the G.W. Zoo) in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, from 1999 to 2018.

Exotic left the G.W. Zoo in June 2018 and was arrested three months later on suspicion of hiring two men to murder Big Cat Rescue founder Carole Baskin, with whom he had a complicated rivalry. In 2019, Exotic was convicted and sentenced to 22 years in prison on 17 federal charges of animal abuse and two counts of attempted murder for hire for the plot to kill Baskin. In 2021, he worked with attorney John Michael Phillips to file a motion for a new trial, and on July 15, 2021, a U.S. appeals court ruled that the convictions for the two murder attempts were wrongly treated as separate. The trial court reduced his sentence by 1 year, resentencing him to 21 years in late January 2022. In 2023, Exotic announced his candidacy in the 2024 presidential election as a Democrat

Sean Howe joins Ed Opperman to discuss his book, Agents of Chaos, which focusses in on the legendary iconic, revolutionary publication High Times.

The life and times of High Times’ enigmatic founder Thomas King Forçade, an underground newspaper editor and marijuana kingpin who—between police raids, smuggling runs, and outrageous stunts—battled both the US government and fellow radicals.

At the end of the 1960s, the mysterious Tom Forçade suddenly appeared, insinuating himself into the top echelons of countercultural politics and assuming control of the Underground Press Syndicate, a coalition of newspapers across the country. Weathering government surveillance and harassment, he embarked on a landmark court battle to obtain White House press credentials. But his audacious exploits—pieing Congressional panelists, stealing presidential portraits, and picking fights with other activists—led to accusations that he was an agent provocateur.

As the era of protest faded and the dark shadows of Watergate spread, Forçade hoped that marijuana could be the path to cultural and economic revolution. Bankrolled by drug-dealing profits, High Times would be the Playboy of pot, dragging a once-taboo subject into the mainstream. The magazine was a travelogue of globe-trotting adventure, a wellspring of news about “the business,” and an overnight success. But High Times soon threatened to become nothing more than the “hip capitalism” Forçade had railed against for so long, and he felt his enemies closing in.

Assembled from exclusive interviews, archived correspondences, and declassified documents, Agents of Chaos is a tale of attacks on journalism, disinformation campaigns, governmental secrecy, corporatism, and political factionalism. Its triumphs and tragedies mirror the cultural transformations of 1970s America, wrought by forces that continue to clash in the spaces between activism and power.
