Description

The podcast for everyone who knows conventional wisdom stinks. The Other Washington is a Seattle-based podcast that takes a deep dive into a single policy issue each episode. Listen to venture capitalist Nick Hanauer and his team of political troublemakers explain and explore how policies work, how they don’t, and how conventional politics often gets in the way of implementing effective policies.

Customer Reviews

Nick Hanauer is no economist.

Of all the armchair economists in the media that speak on vital economic issues, Nick Hanauer is probably the most annoying and naive. He claims his wealth gives him the credibility to act like he’s some kind of macroeconomic expert, but in reality his knowledge of markets is no better than a college freshman pulling a C- in Economics 101. The myths he spouts on things from minimum wage to price controls have been debunked for decades at this point. The fact that he constantly uses the phrase “trickle-down economics” proves that he isn’t even familiar with supply side theory and does nothing but attack straw men. Hanauer is simply reciting Bernie Sanders talking points while lacking even the most basic knowledge of anything to do with a market economy. I would give this podcast a hard pass and recommend instead listening to a credible economist like the late Milton Friedman or the great Thomas Sowell.

Must listen

Great analysis and explanations of many current issues

Talk Nerdy To Me

This podcast is a liberal economist's wet dream. Goldy, Hannah and the team at TOW take the most underappreciated science and make it real. This is the kind of programming that NPR should be afraid of: it is thought-provoking, engaging, intelligent, and accessible.
