The Rehab show is about overcoming drug addiction. The topics range from medical treatment to spiritual fellowships and psychotherapy. Other forms of therapy will be explored as well. The underlying theme is that everyone is different and we cannot apply a single method of treatment to all people and expect it to work. Listening carefully to what works and does not work for an individual, treating people with respect and understanding that behaviors caused by addiction are the result of a medical condition are important. Patients presenting for treatment of addiction should be addressed with caring, compassion and understanding.

Overcoming Opioid Addiction
Dr. Bisaga episode on Overcoming Opioid Addiction was excellent. I understand the challenges involved, especially in cases where there is medical treatment and little behavior treatment or as Dr. Bisage refers to as traditional treatment. As with all medications, like Suboxone, Subutex, Naloxone, there are dangerous side affects. I can see using in early recovery but can also see where long term use will be questioned by many. I guess my question is more concerned with the timeframe saying the patience is settled and really not addicted. I would think most people in active recovery would want to be weaned from any type of drugs of this type. The challenges continue today even more so and therefore we’ll need to find the best methods to help. i believe there is general support from both the NA community and the groups such as NAR-ANON that support all forms of help towards recovery. They also believe that the traditions and steps should be included.
