Customer Reviews

Some excellent and often obscure tax and retirement planning information that is not readily available elsewhere, though I’m only going with 3 stars because of all the needless banter. If the hosts would skip that and condense the program into a half-hour or so, it would be a no brainer to listen in every week. It is presently way too long for that kind of commitment, however, especially in proportion to the amount of time actually devoted to substance.

Too long

The content is good but the hosts are going on for far too long over each topic. This may be beneficial for the one who asked the question and others who had same question, but others will find it boring.

Great resource for do-it-yourselfers

It probably says something about me that I have a ton of retirement-related podcasts on my phone. But as someone looking to retire, I want to make sure I have my ducks in a row. The Retirement and IRA Show is one of my go-to financial podcasts.

I stumbled on this podcast with Jim, Chris, and Justin two years ago. I had a pretty good understanding of the basics, but I quickly learned the (important) subtleties of Social Security, IRA conversions, tax implications of the backdoor Roth, etc. These are topics that many financial podcasts (ahem, Mr. Ramsey) fail to understand.

The guys are also hilarious, sometimes unintentionally so, but I think that adds to the charm. They seem passionate about serving the needs of their clients and listeners, ensuring people have correct information and don't make unwise mistakes. I really appreciate that.

Could the podcast be more polished? Sure. But then they'd be that "slick radio guy" trying to push a product or sell a service. We've all heard those types of podcasts (selling vs teaching). When I finish listening to the Retirement and IRA Show, I never feel as if I need to go take a shower.
