Description

Remember those thrilling days of yesteryear, when D&D came in a single box? When rules were there to be guided by the Dungeon master, not in control of him? Where extrapolation was king and fun was the major goal of any adventure? Those days have returned! As with the very title of the podcast, one can imagine dangerous dungeons, Wiley Non-Player Characters, and monsters that might just be able to kill your character regardless of your level? Save or Die podcast intends to cover them all, from the first box set of 1974 to the last of the 1990s box sets. If its Dungeons & Dragons and came in a box, we’ll talk about it. Our fearless Dungeon Masters will regale listeners with tales of past events and future possibilities. Magic, Monsters, and Mayhems will abound as we delve into the ideas of light rules and heavy role-playing!

Terrific Podcast

I really enjoy listening to this podcast. I played classic D&D in the 80s (Moldvay/Coook) and have played it a few times with my oldest son in the last couple years. Both the recent playing and this podcast bring back a lot of (very good) memories. You can tell these people really love the classic version of D&D and they are very fun to listen to.

I would recommend this podcast to players of any edition of D&D. There are many aspects of D&D that are edition neutral and timeless.

Keep up the good work guys (and gal)!

Great basic D&D podcast

If you are looking for a "old school" basic D&D game discussion this is the podcast.Entertaining and informative. Interviews of some of the original creators are a must listen.

Not just nostalgia

For those of you who remember growing up playing the original D&D, there are a few podcasts out there to listen to, but for me Save or Die is the best I've found because it's not just a nostalgic look back at how much fun we used to have but a group of active gamers who are still playing. Their extensive knowledge of role playing as well as the lore specific to D&D make each episode a treasure trove of information for both players and DMs. The hosts all have excellent interplay and play off of each other well. Definitely give them a listen.
