The first podcast to cover the continuum of chocolate, The Slow Melt uses chocolate as the thick, delicious lens through which to explore the world—from flavor and physiology to chemistry and conservation, from global markets and gender to climate change, social justice and beyond—highlighting the people, places and processes behind this $100 billion industry. By better understanding chocolate, we can better appreciate it, more easily identify what we love, and support the makers and producers that create those kinds of bars. The Slow Melt is hosted and written by journalist and author Simran Sethi. Guests include farmers, conservationists, manufacturers, tasting experts, scientists, social justice advocates, chocolate purveyors and, of course, award-winning chocolate makers. Learn more at

For the love of Chocolate

Think of your most favorite teacher in school and then imagine that today's lesson is your favorite thing...Chocolate!

I've found the missing podcast in my rotation

This pod is insightful, informative, and passionately delivered. As a manager at a food co op I've been lucky enough to try many varities of chocolate, but have just recently started exploring the world of all the different craft chocolate that are out there. After reading her book "Bread, Wine, and Chocolate: The Slow Loss of the Foods We Love," and seeing her speak here in Asheville last year, it inspired me to learn more about biodeversity in farming, and get more into the complexities of chocolate, everything from the taste, texture and flavor notes, to where the cacao is coming from and who farms it. This pod will for sure be my next step into knowing more about all of these things. I highly recommend the book and very much look forward to more episodes of The Slow Melt.
