Customer Reviews

A highly interesting podcast for the social work student!

Jonathan Singer, LCSW, is a great podcaster with a vast storehouse of knowledge. I just discovered this podcast and have made my way through most of the episodes, listening to some more than often. This podcast is perfect for the social work student (I am an MSW student) as well as folks who are themselves in therapy and want to learn more about therapeutic approaches. Even if you've covered some of the topics in class, there will be something entirely fresh for you in each podcast. Singer covers the history of each approach, defines the approach, gives great examples from actual therapeutic situations, compares this approach to other approaches (e.g. Gestalt Therapy compared to Freudian Psychoanalysis), discusses the pros and cons of each approach, gives resources for further study, and even has some participatory exercises for the listener! I highly recommend this podcast!

Excellent resource for student development and professional development

I strongly recommend the Social Work podcast for social work students, faculty, or for a general audience interested in learning more about the social work profession. As an instructor, I use the Social Work podcasts as a tool to reinforce classroom learning and have assigned podcasts as required content for some of my MSW courses. However, as a social worker interested in continuing to develop professionally, I have also used the Social Work Podcast to enhance my own learning and strengthen my skills in areas where I have less direct practice experience. I have worked my way through about half of the episodes and find Jonathan Singer to be a very skilled interviewer who is able to take complex subjects and make them very approachable. I am always looking at new ways to engage students in learning and have found the Social Work podcast to be an excellent way to use technology to reinforce classroom content. David Beimers, Asst. Wonderful!

I wish more social workers would do this! I love this voice and the topics are presented well. Thank you so much! Keep up the good work.
