The NEW YORKER of comic book podcasts

Well, it would be if they ever prepared. Still, the SPLASH PAGE is the best podcast for general comic book discussion week in and week out. If you like hearing the opinions of people that love comics but are also well versed in books, movies and television than this is the one to listen to. Tim and Chad broadly cover key books that shipped in the last week as well as discuss industry news and trends. There's also a "lightning" round feature that encourages discussion and feedback from the audience. Both guys write professionally about comics and the podcast is an outlet for shorter or longer topics without editorial constriction. The special guest episodes are quite good. I'd start with the Joe Casey episode.

THE comicbook podcast

This is the one to listen to. Period. Tim Callahan and Chad Nevett delve away from the usual comic podcast cliches to offer well-thought discussion and criticism. Both guys approach comics in a level-headed manner and highlight the craft of the medium rather than plot or continuity quips. Callahan and Nevett understand the medium and how it should work to tell a story, and this makes their critiques detailed and well-formed. They also TALK about the work. Most comics podcasts seem to forget that, chatting about prices and solicitations, yet the Splash Page is all about the books at hand. I have come to appreciate that.

Both gentlemen are well-versed in comics and other media - film, literature, music -, and they connect to each other well in conversation. Conversations feel absolutely natural and lively, and they leave you feeling educated and excited about the medium.

I cannot recommend this show enough. The internet needs these two guys.

One of the few comic book podcasts worth your time.

I believe this to be one of three comic book podcasts worth listening to. While I don't always agree with their opinions, they at least give valid reasons for them. Still though, Chad's dislike of All-Star Superman is just weird. I do get a little annoyed when they veer off into topics that have little to do with comics, but they tend to reign in those conversations, before I pass out from boredom. The best thing about this podcast is that Tim and Chad know what they're talking about and in the rare cases when they don't, they'll actually admit it.

Hopefully Tim and Chad don't become bored with the podcast and there will be episodes to come for quite some time.
