Customer Reviews

Well Done.

Brilliant! It has rekindled the passion I once had for the written word. I've missed Middle Earth and have just started rereading the Hobbit. I hope to hear more about The Lord of the Ring. I am especially appreciative of the intro and how Mr. Olsen defers to what Tolkien himself states about his writings. It takes a true understanding of literature to not let ego or personal ideology interfere with the reading and interpretation of Great Works.

Digest episodes

I enjoy these podcasts, more the ones with Corey in it than Digest episodes. I understand and appreciate Dave and Trish's contributions, but between Trish's manic laugh, frequent interruptions by her screeching or barking animals in the background and mike hangups, I am close to giving up on the Digest episodes. I hope this will be taken as consturctive criticism- it would be nice to maintain a professional quality in these podcasts.
Update: Now that Trish has joined the main Riddles in the Dark podcast as well, my concerns for the quality of the show have only deepened. Her mike settings are louder than Corey's or Dave's, which doesn't help. I really hope these comments will be taken as constructive criticism for the improvement of the podcasts.

An Excellent Educational Experience

I was a student of Corey Olsen's at Washington College, and am a listener of this podcast, and can state from abundant personal experience that the expertise this man offers on the works of Tolkien is amongst the best in Tolkien scholarship today. In Professor Olsen's classes, even the dryest of passages came to life in exciting detail. The support offered on the website and discussion board for those wishing to discuss the lectures with others and learn in an interactive format is highly recommended. This podcast is a -must- experience for any Tolkien fan eager to learn more about the world of Middle-Earth.
