Description

A short term, daily podcast from Molly, covering the three-week trial of James Alex Fields. Everyone listening to this podcast already knows what James Alex Fields is accused of. In August 2017, Nazis marched on our streets. They came with shields and guns and hate. They came ready to commit violence, and some of them did. Some of these men have already been convicted. The Trial of James Alex Fields is about the attack that changed the meaning of the word Charlottesville. This trial belongs to the people of Charlottesville. Convicting Fields would not heal the people he hurt nor bring back the life he took. But by bearing witness to these proceedings, we'll make whatever closure is possible accessible to more people than will fit in that courtroom. Heads up: coverage of this trial will include graphic descriptions of the events that happened in downtown Charlottesville on August 12, 2017.

The Truth Hurts

This is a devastating show. At once heart-breaking and deeply inspiring, Molly’s coverage of the trial is powerful, tear-jerking, and sobering. Listen to this show with care. ❤️

Molly’s done the WORK!

Unlike other reporters/news organizations that will tune in now that the trial has started, Molly has been here the entire time, cataloging a year of mundane, yet important pieces of this trial. This gives her the necessary background to give us a overall look at this case, not just bits and pieces. She recounts the crucial moments of court with the perfect mix of professionalism and emotion, so that we the listener can understand what’s happening, but not forget the trauma of that day. She provides educated context without pretending to be a law professional and we should all be incredibly grateful for the emotional labor this is. If you want real on-the-ground dispatches and not the surface level reporting that news stations are giving now that it’s exciting, tune in!

A treasure

Molly is a Charlottesville treasure. She is the only person in the media or otherwise who has personally sat through every court date of every Nazi and antifascist court date in Charlottesville. The podcast is amazing.
