Welcome to The Wonders I've Seen, where there's no such thing as weird or normal-there's just different!
TWIS discusses minority representation in fictional spaces;whether in tv shows, movies, novels, or video games. It's hosted by Tanagra, a Geek Girl Nerd of Color with a passion for Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and socio-political awareness. With beverage in hand, she wonders about fictional spaces: what they reflect about the society that creates them, and how they affect the geeks who love them.

Whitney Houston's CINDERELLA: A Fairytale for All
In 1997, Whitney Houston brought Brandy to tv screens across America as the first Black Disney princess in Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella. It was a fairytale for all in more than just rhetoric, but in practice. The tv film utilized colourlind casting to create a world where anyone could see themselves in any role; a fairytale land where we were all allowed a happy ending and a chance at the impossible.

BATWOMAN: A New Beginning
The CW's new Batwoman is Black, queer, knows several martials, and represents intersectionality both on screen and off, but even with all the hype does anyone want to watch ALL of Season 1 just to watch Season 2? Come listen as Tanagra discusses her experience watching the beginning of Batwoman season 2 and whether or not season 1 is requisite viewing beforehand.

GAMEBOYS: Boys' Love in the time of Covid
This week Tanagra talks Netflix's latest BL acquisition and their first Phillipine BL acquisition, Gameboys: Level-Up Edition!
