Description

Up and Vanished is an investigative true crime podcast hosted by Atlanta filmmaker Payne Lindsey. In Season 1, Payne tackles his first cold case story, the unsolved disappearance of Georgia high school teacher and former pageant queen, Tara Grinstead. The 11-year-old case remains the largest case file in Georgia history and is still unfolding. Season 2 focuses on the disappearance of young mother Kristal Reisinger from a remote mountain town in Colorado. Up and Vanished aims to tell compelling, true stories and give these cases the exposure they deserve.

Great story, terrible phone recording quality!

I’m on episode 6 and the phone recordings quality has really taken a turn for the worse. Sounds like the cell is on speaker phone at full volume and the recording mic has no foam on it and is shoved right against the cell. I’m captivated by the story but getting very frustrated with not being able to understand these long recorded phone calls. I feel like I’m missing very important parts of the story.

Edit: the very next episode after leaving this review they went back and recreated some of the conversations so that you could understand what was being said. Perfect!

“I can’t...make it...go on without me.”

I’ve given it about as much as I can handle. I’ve made it to episode 8; the narrative doesn’t follow a logical order, the commentary is elementary, and I feel like I’m on a trip where my GPS keeps saying, “Recalculating.” Good try, maybe after some more polish and better planning, I’d give it another go.

[Spoilers!] Doesn’t Have an Ending

I’ve listened to all the episodes from season 1 and 2. Unfortunately there is absolutely no resolution in either case. I understand that the gag order in season 1 left no real reason to continue until more information could be made public. However, in season 2 the series just ends at an extremely arbitrary point in the story without resolving any threads. I do understand that this is real life and that not everything can be tied up neatly with a bow, but I was still left feeling underwhelmed.
