Alliah Escobar, a lovely 18-years-old young lady and Pistarckle Theater Intern, will be a Senior next school year at Charlotte Amalie High School on St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.


As a recent Intern during the last 3 weeks of this summer, Alliah could be found faithfully working Monday through Thursdays from 10 am to 3 pm every day. There is the possibility that she may continue to work post-school hours when she returns to school. There is also the possibility that Alliah is interested in pursuing an education in the Performing Arts Theater.


Today we'll explore her experience as an Intern, her interests, and her goals.

Welcome to D & H Fashions, the newest home of fashion apparels and canvas bags made by hand. Situated on Back Street in Downtown Charlotte Amalie just 1 block North of Main Street, D & H Fashions, store and workshop, is the brainchild of Ms Doris Haynes, a seamstress who has spent countless years sewing and designing clothes in and around New York City.

Pistarckle Theater will present youth actor performances on Thursday, August 17, 7:00 pm of original plays written by students ages 11–17, created during this year’s Summer Playwrighting Camp. During the 4-weeks session, students participated in playwright training & development of new plays, lessons on character development, scene study, plot, setting, & stage directions.

This popular STARZ Leadership/Playwrighting Camp is sponsored by The Virgin Islands (VI) Dept. of Labor. This camp focuses on developing life & career skills through playwrighting & theater performance via a model of instruction known as active learning.

The Pistarckle Theater Playwrighting Camp: During the 4-week camp session, students practice character descriptions, writing exercises to strengthen voice, perspective & language choices. They then write their own 10-minute/1-Act Plays from themes that are identified through class discussions that prioritize elements important to the life of the youth in the program. Scenes are re-written & revised with feedback from peers & instructor.

Once the drafts are ready for an initial reading, the students produce a typed copy for reading & performance notes. The scenes will then be presented with basic staging, props, & minimal set, to allow the young playwrights work to come to life on stage. Other youth in the program act in each other's’ plays.

This program is a partnership with the VI Dept. of Labor 'Career Development Program’ for pre-work youth, & has the support of the VI Finance & Housing Dept.

Euell Aira Nielsen, of Sewell, NJ, recently relocated to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Euell has operated several small businesses, to include, Herstories (historical portrayals), Twist This (balloon twisting), Island Treazures (handmade crafts) & Dimaje (photography). Her interests and hobbies include animals, reading & researching, spending time with family, traveling, riding her bike, photography, crafting, genealogy, & historical research.

In March 2017, Euell received an award for her 62+ writings on African Americans for the website Blackpast.org. Since then she has been featured in newspaper & magazine articles about her cemetery photography, military service, & historical re-enacting. She is currently working on a manuscript about her past influential church members.

Pistarckle Theater is in the beginning stages of developing a Virgin Islands 'Actor's Registry.' Once completed, it will offer local actors (or actor-wannabe's) a platform to promote themselves, as well as a comprehensive resource for information such as upcoming auditions across the VI; stateside producers that are filming in the VI, and seeking local actors; opportunities to participate in Acting Workshops, and more.
