Finally a great podcast for Social Studies Ts!

I've followed Dan & Mike on Twitter for the past few years through #sschat. I'm so happy that they are taking the time to put out a pod with so many great teachers sharing their ideas! A must listen for anyone in the #sschat & #worldgeochat communities!

Social Studies Teacher

I'm so glad that there is finally a social studies podcast. Dan and Mike do a wonderful job of introducing the listener to new concepts through interviews with leading education experts. I also love the fact that these podcasts are usually less than 30 minutes. It's the perfect podcast to listen on the way to work! They've had some big names in education on the show, including Dave Burgess (Teach Like a Pirate). I especially love when they talk about social studies strategies to use in the classroom. Overall, I really enjoy listening to this podcast and hope Dan and Mike continue getting big names in social studies to come on the show! Keep up the great work!

Big Ideas

Dan and Michael bring experience from both the K12 and university perspective; Dan is a professor working with pre-service teachers, and Michael a classroom teacher. Their guests reflect this balance. The best thing about Visions of Education is that each episode is focused on one "Big Idea." It might be about assessment, or engagement, or how to teach politics. This lets you pull from a menu of topics from their backlog, but also gives you a well-rounded view of what's happening in 21st century education. There's a good conversational tone and rapport between the hosts that invites the guests and listeners to be part of the discussion--this is one of the best education podcasts around.
