The (Phil & Sean) Balls Episode

The (Phil & Sean) Balls Episode

We are in our changing era, it's true, but some things will always stay the same, so here we are to talk about balls.

In this episode, we talk about Supervisor Phil Serna's recent Facebook rant & Councilmember Sean Loloee's laundry list of malfeasance. We love to see elected officials having a normal one all the time.

Thanks for listening, and, as always: defund the police.

That's right, the fellas are leaving.
What does that mean? A freer and more incisive V:RC moving forward.
But in the meantime, listen to the originals talk to the last of the initial crew about why it's time for them to shove off and let the show turn into its next, more free, iteration.

Prison guards aren’t labor +Sac County does nothing with $25 million for unhoused folks

Prison guards aren’t labor +Sac County does nothing with $25 million for unhoused folks

Today we're discussing a few hard truths:
    1. It's time to cut back on California's prison guard "union" stranglehold on power.
    2. Sacramento County doesn't really care about housing folks on the American River Parkway (or else they would have spent the $25 million the state gave them to provide housing).
    3. El Dorado County appears to be cool with the new anti-semitic rhetoric coming from public commenters.

Mind if I bum a cigarette?

The podcast, yeah, it’s good or whatever. To be honest, I don’t know a lot about socialism, except that when you talk to a socialist be prepared to be talked at for a minimum of two hours at a bar. The real reason I’m here is far more important and that’s to targeting one of the members of the show who I guess doesn’t technically work for the show anymore but better late than never. If the definition of socialism was to steal hundreds, if not thousands of cigarettes from your friends, and never buying your own pack, when you know you’re going to smoke the whole night, Dave would be the biggest socialist in the entire world. I mean he’s such a big socialist he won’t even ask anymore he just grabs your pack of cigarettes, opens it and takes one then looks at you with that smug little face of his and goes oh, were you gonna smoke those? So with that being said I hope for nothing but growth for the show and happiness for everyone involved except Dave. Like the great Michael Walzer once said “what touches all should be decided by all and if you buy a pack can I bum a smoke”. Socialism.

This podcast is necessary in Sacramento

I’ve listened to the city council and Sacramento county board of supervisors for years now thru their podcasts. I definitely recognize Flo (apologies if I spelled that incorrectly) from those forums and I am excited that she and all of you have put together this outlet. I enjoy this last conversation discussing the local justice issues and everything related. I think it is extremely important both to recognize that the cocaine bear movie not only demonizes drug users but also does what the grey does to wolves and what jaws does to sharks. Bear already are experiencing habitat shrinkage and more encounters with humans. They wanted to kill a bear in Tahoe this year for encountering humans too often this last summer. And on a similar front, I think as Flo suggests we are starting on our back foot (already admitting defeat when it comes to how we tackle crime, jails and more jails) when we assume free will in the pre determined vs free will discussion. I mean to say a retributive justice system makes sense when a choice to do otherwise was available. So when we accept free will we accept that people can and probably should be held accountable for their decisions. The current scientific narrative doesn’t coalesce with the notion of free will that we all accept ie their is not the ability to choose do other than what we chose to do. With this notion of free will a society will almost certainly have a retributive tinge instead of an preventative one. Ghettos are a political decision go MMT

Funny and informative

I was born and raised in Sacramento, but moved away 5 years ago. This is a funny and informative way to stay updated on politics and social conversations happening back home. Provides useful tidbits for conversations with family and friends so I’m not completely disconnected.
