Description

Everyone is always warning you not to get lost in the weeds. But not Vox's Ezra Klein, Sarah Kliff, and Matthew Yglesias. They love the weeds. That's where all the policy is. This is the podcast for people who follow politics because they love thinking about health care, economics, and zoning. It is not a podcast for people who like hearing talk about gaffes.

Customer Reviews

Great content, but....

Matthew Yglesias's "high-rising-terminal", that vocal habit where you end almost sentence with an upturn, DRIVES ME CRAZY. Seriously, it overruns the delightful depth and weight of policy. He does it so often, I keep threatening to unsubscribe.

Love the content, hate the speaker

I finally unsubscribed from this podcast. I kept trying to listen because they do a terrific job of discussing interesting issues. But, Matt's speech pattern (the upspeak, ye gods the upspeak) is simply intolerable.

I listen to a lot of podcasts and I like some people's voices more than others but I never thought is unsubscribe based on one person's voice. But Matt has ruined this for me. Please, please, get some speech coaching and I will be back in a second.

Love the content / Yglesias's uptalk is unbearable

I've tried listening to The Weeds several times over the year, and I have found the content and topics covering very compelling. The podcasts are thoughtful and in-depth, and cover a wide range of issues. However, I simply cannot stand Matt Yglesias's terrible habit of engaging in uptalk, where the speaker ends every sentence with a raising intonation. Uptalk is usually used for questions, and it sounds as if every sentence Ygelsias utters is a question. It drives me absolutely nuts. Sorry, I can’t take it.
