Watch Out for Fireballs! is a game club podcast, focused on retro and non-current games. Every two weeks, we play a game in its entirety, then discuss its merits and flaws at length. Most episodes begin with a short sketch, and we're pretty liberal about keeping tangents in. But it ultimately comes down to: Why do we like (or dislike?) this game.

Intelligent Video Game Conversation

Watch Out for Fireballs! has been a fantastic discovery for me. My wife and I moved to the Midwest in December 2013 after spending most of our lives in the Southeast and I was doing a ton of commuting to work (around an hour and some change one-way). Somehow I stumbled across this podcast via my iPhone Podcasts app and I couldn't get enough. I started listening at on the way to work, at work, and on the way home. I started listening to other programs on the network, and I started turning everyone I knew that liked playing retro games on to this podcast.

Gary and Kole are some of the best podcast hosts I've had the pleasure of listening to. They hardly ever talk over each other, they form complete and intelligent points throughout the show instead of just turning it into a Beercast or something. It just makes it so much more engaging to listen to whenever they reference other media that me and my friends are caught up in too.

Overall, fantastic program with fantastic hosts. And, like most great shows, WOFF is a fun and engaging listen even if you don't agree with Gary and Kole's opinions on a particular game.

I can't recommend this show enough. Thanks for all of the time and effort you guys put into this, WOFF is sincerely something I treasure on a regular basis.

This is among my favorite podcasts. Gary and Kole strike the perfect balance of topical content and hilarious caveats/off topic discussion. If the idea of a fun exploration of notable video games from the last 20 years sounds good to you, you will love this!

Brings back memories, and also allows me to experience some games I've never played but always wanted to as a kid. It can be pretty funny sometimes and I enjoy the resulting conversations when they get off on a tangent. It has also converted me over to Dark Souls and the associated podcast Bonfire side chat.
