Description

Audio documentaries about losing in sports, in all its forms—including as a prelude to better things, like winning. As Tolstoy may have almost written: Every champion is the same. Every loser is a loser in their own way. Can't Win 4 Losing tells their stories.

Much more than a sports blog

I know almost nothing about hockey. I’ve been to exactly one hockey game in my life — when my host family in a student exchange program took me to see a couple of youth teams bashing it out on a rink in suburban Vancouver — and I’ve never even watched an entire hockey game on TV. But the Can’t Win For Losing episode about the 1974-75 Washington Capitals was so fascinating to me that I made a point of listening to the bonus episode to hear more from the guys who were on that team.

Every episode so far has been entertaining and thought-provoking in surprising ways. It turns out that talking about losing is fertile ground for talking about a lot more than any particular sport or athlete. Good stuff.

Fun and compelling stories

Even if you’re not a die hard sports fan, these podcasts are really fun to listen to. The stories are human interest with some humor infused. For instance, I’ve never watched a hockey game yet this latest podcast about a losing NHL team kept me riveted the whole time.

Love this show

You are a great storyteller. Very 30-for-30 like! Plus I love that most of your shows are around 24 minutes in length. I listen to my podcasts 2x speed and 12 minutes is about how long my walks with my dogs take!!!
