My New Favorite Podcast

I’ve been in Los Angeles for almost two years—long enough to have the city break and mend my heart. It may be one of the country’s great metropolises, but LA is also in many ways America’s last frontier: the place we fantasize we’ll go if we gather the courage to light out for the territories and begin again. The Dream Factory, as they say. And this podcast captures that place with nuance and insights as sharp and fine as a needle.

The show gives us LA as it truly is: a sprawling metropolis carved out of unforgiving country, where serendipity and deceit seem as oddly indigenous as the city’s concrete river. This place has become my home, despite its countless false promises. I love it. But I may love this podcast even more: Unlike the city it covers so well, “Welcome to LA” actually delivers everything you hope for.

Incredible Storytelling

In a world filled with news and true crime podcasts, this podcast has been the perfect palatte cleanser. It is BEAUTIFUL and compelling storytelling that makes you slow down while you listen. I find the writing so lovely because the host takes a small moment and digs in to the emotions and complexity of human existence.

This is the LA I know

I’ve lived in the LA area my entire life and this podcast captures the LA I know. Please don’t cancel it!!
