Markly Morrison of the podcast, Low Profile asked me to fill in for an episode while he took a little time off with his newborn. Low profile is a long form music interview podcast and radio show based here in Olympia, WA. Markly is also the guy behind Skrill Meadow, the band that provides the ending theme music for Welcome To Olympia
On this episode I had the honor of interviewing the fantastic folk rock artist, Alice Stuart who happens to live here in Olympia. Alice was born in Chelan, WA. She’s had a long career which started in the folk scene of early 60’s Seattle. She’s been all over the world with her music, playing with countless artists including Mississippi John Hurt, Van Morrison, Judy Collins, John Prine and Frank Zappa to name just a few. She’s full of stories.

A Righteous Decision
Excellent and informative episode - I had no idea about slavery in the Northwest and this incredible story of one man’s experience as he sought freedom. Shocking to think it wasn’t just “ there” . It was here and it was us. I’m interested to learn more - thanks for this.
Perfect production quality and story telling
This podcast caught my eye because it literally is about the city I live in. I thought it would be a quirky “Olympian’s only” type of podcast, filled with inside jokes, and locations. Only exciting to people who live here.
There is a level of that, but not much at all.
This podcast is accessible to anyone, anywhere, it takes stories about Olympia’s history and current events, and universalizes them.
Rob narrates these stories with a professional production quality, and with empathy and excitement of his subjects. And an open honesty of who he is.
The music is superb and the majority is local artists.
Definitely worth your time.
