Can two skeptics solve the world’s issues? Scientific skepticism is the practice of seeking whether extraordinary claims are supported by extraordinary evidence. It may be helpful not to think of skepticism as the opposite of optimism, but as the opposite of unquestioning certainty. In this weekly podcast, Harrison and Jake use a combination of science, skepticism, free thought and rationality to challenge all popular and unpopular beliefs. As a general warning, if you hold views near and dear to your heart, they may be challenged in this podcast. We often attempt to challenge our own beliefs in order to let nothing go unquestioned. As a result, we will frequently get off-topic and there will be swearing, name-calling and jokes in very poor taste. Welcome to the Wet Blanket Skeptics podcast, where there are no sacred cows allowed.

Customer Reviews

I was hoping for a good, scientific, skeptical podcast when I downloaded the Atheist vs. Agnostic episode. 16 minutes into the episode, I found it to be too rambling to endure. The first several minutes were just banter between the hosts; once they got into the topic, they didn't seem to have prepared the podcast as a presentation, just more rambling discussion. This podcast would benefit from good research and at least a basic script.

Light-hearted and funny

Having interacted with many in the skeptic community, it is refreshing to listen to Harrison and Jake discuss and even change their minds on a wide array of subjects without over-intellectualizing or feeling stagnant. Not only is this a podcast for learning about hot topics such as polyamory and cryonics-- it is also an humor-filled, heartwarming reminder that we are all flawed and constantly (hopefully) seeking to learn more about the world we live in. If you enjoy podcasts that make you feel like you are in the room and part of the conversation, I highly recommend you give this one a listen!
