Each week, Anne Bogel, of the blog Modern Mrs Darcy, interviews a reader about the books they love, the books they hate, and the books they're reading now. Then, she makes recommendations about what to read next. The real purpose of the show is to help YOU find your next read.

Love It!

Had never listened to a podcast before and have found myself listening to all the back issues of this one and not being able to wait till the next one comes out! I've added lots of books to my list to read! LOVE IT!

Well produced and professional sounding

What Should I Read Next is a podcast about finding the right book for the right person. PROS : Excellent sound quality. Friendly hostess. Intellectual discussion without sounding nerdy. Always one host + one guest, so no roundtable chaos. Episodes released weekly. She sticks to the subject of the podcast and doesn't waste your time with personal life stories like so many other shows. CONS : Not much to complain about here. Ummm... She'll use the word "visceral" a bit too often for my taste, but that's just a personal pet peeve. I sometimes lose track of the name of the book they are talking about. CONCLUSION : If you are interested in reading and want some ideas on what to read next, then absolutely give this podcast a try. It's quick, to the point, and professional sounding. SUGGESTIONS : When discussing a book, mention the title at the beginning of the conversation and also at the end so we don't have to rewind to catch the name. Also, I'd love to hear a show where you find a book suggestion for someone who *isn't* an avid reader (classics and such). Lastly, I'd like to get a quick, five minute follow up on how your previous guests liked your suggestions *after* they read the book. Five stars (rare from me cuz I'm a grouch). 04/20/16

A Reading Community in your iPhone

After Books on the Nightstand bid us an adieu, I tried What Should I Read Next. I'll admit it. I was skeptical. 3 books you like, 1 you don't, and Anne will give you 3 choices of what to read next? Really? I was hooked from the first episode. Anne is a one woman Library of Congress. I swear I think she's read everything. The book discussion is smart and entertaining. I find myself adding books to my tbr from books the guests talk about or books Anne recommends. The production quality is top-notch. Combine the podcast with the Modern Mrs. Darcy Book Club, and the reading community I've been searching for has come to me. (Probably because they've validated my extreme dislike of The Goldfinch, despite my irl reading friends telling me otherwise.) I look forward to the episodes each week because I know I'm going to discover something new to read.
