Description

By The Book is half reality show, half self-help podcast, and one wild social experiment. Join comedian Jolenta Greenberg and her skeptical friend Kristen Meinzer as they live by the rules of a different self-help book each episode to figure out which ones might actually be life changing. Jolenta is a contributor to the BBC, WNYC, and Risk! She's also a Moth story slam winner. You've probably heard her funny stories on a podcast before. Kristen is a producer with Panoply and former co-host of PRI/WNYC’s Movie Date podcast where, no surprise, her job was to be critical.

Customer Reviews

Pretty Captivating.

I thought the firs episode was great. I love the composition of the podcast that takes a unique twist, sort of journaling the experience. The juxtaposition between the two-hosts give a real sense of truth and honesty. Look forward to seeing where it's headed.

Such a good pilot

Really solid concept -- so many interesting places to go from here. Funny, interesting and strangely touching. Bits with the husbands are the best parts.

Fun idea, bad execution

There have been quite a few books that have used this premise (the best is by Beth Lisick). Unfortunately this podcast has a host that overacts to an obnoxious degree. Kristen's summary at the end was the best part of the episode. If the podcast had a guest scientist or other knowledgable person to talk about the techniques in the book and another host it would be a lot better.
