Inspiring, interesting, and real
I came to the podcast via the Whole Life Challenge and Andy Petranek's Living Room workouts. I liked Andy from the workout videos, so I thought I'd check out the podcast. I'm incredibly happy I did.
I listen to a lot of podcasts that focus on ideas, philosophy, and so on. Some are serious; some more light-hearted. I especially love the Whole Life podcast because it involves conversations between interesting people who love what they do. Andy is gracious and sharp. He's always prepared for the interviews and asks exactly the questions I would if I got to talk to his guests. And, he does have the most compelling people on as guests.
What I like most is Andy's humanity. He shares his experiences, his stories, his struggles with fitness, nutrition, and so on. One especially cool moment in an earlier episode was when he was recording an episode and a contractor interrupted the podcast. I thought to myself, "Andy is a real person." An obvious thought I know, but I think it's cool that someone with his discipline is also someone I can relate to. And, he seems to get his guest really excited about their work and passions. This is a great and rare skill in an interviewer.
I learn something and am inspired every time. You should check out this podcast.
Get to the interviews faster!
Wanted to listen to the interview with Jill but felt like there was way too much talking before the interview started so I ended up not getting there and turning it off.
Philip Folsom
This podcast touches on the topic of human collaboration and how it brings out the best in our species. It also touches on a variety of subtopics that I found to be interesting: Obstacles and what they reveal about us, societal changes in human interaction and more!
As a wrestling coach, I found this particular podcast intriguing because Philip works with "teams" from different corporate giants and his goal is to get them to focus and work together towards a common goal. This is what I attempt in doing for my team and listening to him speak gave me some neat ideas on how I can construct such culture. I really like Andy's quote in the beginning: If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go with others. A must listen!
