Fun, Clever, Light Entertainment

I love Wooden Overcoats! The character of Rudyard reminds me of a gloomy Basil Fawlty, the dialogue reminds me of the spoken parts in Gilbert & Sullivan, the acting and effects are as good as any BBC radio production. But put it all together and it’s its own unique thing, a clever piece of light entertainment featuring characters which, though sometimes over the top, you still care about.

Best storytelling podcast I've heard

Love this podcast. There's a lot of hype right now around serialized podcasts, fictional and nonfictional, and this is my favorite fictional one that I've heard so far. A lot of people like The Truth and Limetown, but I think Wooden Overcoats has the levity and comedic timing that make it more convincing and seemingly effortless. It's much easier to get lost in the story because I'm not distracting myself with over analyzing the acting or the script or production. It's so good and funny that I just get lost in the jokes and story.

Dark, Silly and Charming

Really lovely, truly funny radio storytelling. Often compared to Fawlty Towers; but there's a lot of Frasier to it, too. Smart writing brought to life by excellent voice actors and incredible sound production, creating rich sense of all of the characters as well as the small-town setting itself. Sometimes the humor is brilliantly dry and underplayed, and sometimes you hear a corpse being folded in half. Enjoy yourselves!
