Your Mental Health First is a a weekly podcast that provides helpful advice for students, trainees and early career mental health professionals, as well as discussion on topics for people interested in learning more about mental health in general. Your host is psychiatrist Melanie Watkins, MD ("Dr. Mel"). This podcast is primarily geared toward therapists, therapists in training, psychologists, psychiatrists, graduate students in psychology, psychiatric residents, and anyone else who wants to learn more about mental health training and how to take better care of themselves while taking care of others. Dr. Mel believes that everyone needs to put their mental health first in order to take the best care of themselves and of others. Through the podcast, she hopes to increase awareness about mental health topics, reduce stigma surrounding mental health diagnoses, and encourage students and professionals to pursue rewarding careers in mental health.
