A diamond in the rough

This is a perfect introduction for beginners. It's like training wheels for a bike that may at first glance seem a little too long in the frame and kind of slow. But once you learn how to ride it you realize that it was built with such care and quality parts that you wouldn't trade it for any flashy bike on the market. It's like cliff notes for the classics.

Now Every Night Can be Tuesday Night in North Jersey

Scharpling (hotshot Hollywood writer) and Wurster (Superchunk drummer, man of three voices) have been making beautiful comedy together on NJ's mighty WFMU for many eons. Scharpling is smart, low-key hilarious and usually cranky. He is easily the best interviewer on radio, never relying on hacky morning zoo, T&A-type talk. He can make a conversation with the oddest or most mundane caller extremel interesting. Comics like Patton Oswalt and Zach Galifilinkis are regulars, but the calls from Philly Boy Roy, Timmy von Trimble and Bernie Taupin -- dropping music geeks references to Peter Criss solo albums and Die Kreuzen band members -- make this insanley addictive show the "best" ever. Heave-ho!

This one's a winner!

I think these excerpts from The Best Show on WFMU will brighten up your day.
